Hello there,
Before founding Road To Wellness, I was a former biomedical researcher in the field of epigenetics and neuroendocrinology with a keen interest in using complementary alternative medicine (CAM) to treating chronic conditions.
When acupuncture resolved a shoulder injury from weightlifting after two treatments, I became so inquisitive on how it works that I refocused my career to studying and practicing CAM. It is my passion to learn, share knowledge, and help relieve pain in people’s lives. I believe that there are still a lot to be learned in medicine and I want to use my background in science to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western medicine.
Many of the patients I have seen through my fertility and sports medicine fellowships have seen results that even I doubted. I delved deeper into the medicine and gained great insight, results, that landed opportunities to practice at Kaiser Permanente, setting up the service line as the Director of Acupuncture Services at Axis Community Health, and now leading the launch of the acupuncture program at City of Hope.
I pride my ability to help my athletes and pain patients because I most likely experienced it myself as a cyclist, a runner, and a weightlifter. I deeply empathize with patients who suffers from digestive health issues, depression, and anxiety, because I have been there too.
I look forward to meeting and working with you, guiding you on your road to wellness.
Kindly,
Amy Truong, DTCM, MPH, L.Ac
