From thinking about Sickness to Wellness
This is a hard time for everyone. Businesses are closed, clinics are open to limited hours, and hospitals are restricted to those in serious need. This is a time where we see the importance of wellness the importance of health care providers and the flaws in responding to just sickness.
I am writing this to not advertise my business nor my profession, rather to highlight the utmost importance of our need to take our health, seriously. Death is an inevitable and how we choose to live our life matters. The quality of our life is affected, deeply, by our health. You can be rich, but without health, you have no wealth. Understanding, health is wealth.
COVID 19 infects a paramount number of people and the number increases as we have more testings available. The number of deaths are also rising but we also have to pay attention to the number of people who recovered. There is NO CURE, NO VACCINATIONS for COVID 19 and this means the ones who recover have a robust immune system that allows them to conquer the pathogen.
This is an important understanding that a strong immunity is not relative to age or looking thin. Healthy is the result of not only of genetics, but the result of deliberate self-care. This means, eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, limiting or even eliminating poor habits like drugs, alcohol, sleep deprivation, and negative thinking. All these “poor habits” cause our body to go into a highly inflammatory state. And it is known, that with a constant inflamed system, we are subjected to a poor immunity.
As we continue to take communal efforts to flatten the curve of the spread of COVID 19, I urge you to take steps in shifting your mentality from fixing an illness to nurturing your health. Don’t think about how to respond to sickness, think of how you can continue being well.
